The grass is always greener on the other side...

You know how your friends always have cooler stuff than you have in your closet? During my project I “Kleptofashioned” my friend’s closets in order to find inspiration to design my collection. I created a blog www.kleptofashion.blogspot.com which was my sketchbook, visit it from oldest to newest post to see the whole evolution-process!

Results Results Results!

Last week I got the project's critique and I felt really great standing there and presenting my concept. I received great feedback, they loved my blog and the collection! Maya, the mannequin came in on "Gossip" by Heavy cross, which I felt worked great with the outfit and whole concept, it put my clothes straight in the right mood! There was a discussion and difference in opinion about the jacket, but besides that it was awesome! So FINALLY, here are the pictures of my final project!

Accomplishing towards Achievement

After nights of sketching, I finally feel complete with my collection! I felt something was missing. I think my prints and concept were much stronger than the actual collection. So here's the concept:

On my mind: Kleptofashion...

This crazyness, from the closets and my prints, HAVE to come in the collection...
No bouderies... Loaded fashion...
"Kleptofashioning" for ideas, shape, line, figure...
Layers on top of each other...
till, "Kleptofashioning" from the other parts... nicer said, making the parts multifonction.

Time to improve

Here is my presentation of Mid-Semester
Fabricing the Fabrics........
.......Printing the prints
Fabric-board
So the critique at the presentation was divided in two:
First I got feedback on the actual blog, and then on the collection I designed.
I was told my blog was very good and structured, which made me very happy. The concept of "must have what you have" and "kleptofashioning" was very strong and innovative, and that I should definitely continue with my blog even after the project.... (Which I will definitely DO!!)
--> Critique by Yaara Keydar (Graduate of Shenkar College, check out her website and blog!)
The critique for the collection was less great, but after taking a step back I must say I totally agree with the things that were said. I was told that the concept of my project and the prints I made for the collection were very strong, but when I got to the design part I lost myself a bit. Looking back I admit I got so focussed on getting the prints and fabrics right, I put the design part second. However, the fact that I was told I was on the right path, is a good sign and I am now full of ideas to start designing!!
